Pattie recently toured Australia to meet our leading fashion and beauty publications, it was here she shared her exclusive nail care tips:

  • File Your Nails the Right Way: File only in one direction at a time. Filing back and forth places stress on your nail and may cause it to crack. When buffing make sure you follow the direction of the nail growth pattern, from the cuticle out towards the free edge.
  • A Professional Finish to the "At Home" Manicure: Apply a good base coat like Dashing Diva's Ridge Filling Foundations. This will create a smooth surface on your nail plate and hide imperfections. When you apply your nail polish make sure you do so in thin coats and allow it to dry in between.
  • Avoiding Dry Cuticles this Summer: The main reason cuticles become hard is due to a lack of moisture. Applying good cuticle oil like Dashing Diva Cuticle Nectar before bed will help keep your cuticles in good condition.
  • Your Nails are Your Jewels Not Your Tools: Before doing your housework apply a good hand cream and place on cotton gloves before placing on rubber gloves for cleaning
  • Consuming Certain Medications: Even simple medication for the common cold will cause your nails to be dry and snap or break, and also cause hangnails. Antihistamines are the worse culprits for this! Be sure to drink lots of water and regularly use a good cuticle oil.
  • Always Use a Good Polish: Nail polish acts as armour for your nail plates and also helps retain good moisture while keeping out the elements which dry nails such as water.
